Cherry blossom festival
The ruins of the Takanabe Maizuru Castle, once the residence of feudal lord, Hidetsuna Tsuchimochi, during the Saikou era (854 - 857), now known as Maizuru Park. After the Saikou era, the affluent Akizuki clan resided at and contributed to improving the castle. In Maizuru Park, there are still several remaining artifacts from the ancient time.
Cherry blossoms called, "Someiyoshino" along with "Hirado" and "Miyama" azaleas bloom every spring. From the end of March to the beginning of summer, a cherry blossom festival is held where many visitors come to enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
